Vicar General

Born and raised at Manikulathu Thannickal, Kadammanitta, Pathanamthitta, Kerala. He is the 8^th child of 9 Children of Mr. Geevarghese Thomas and Mrs. Sosamma Thomas and his siblings are Mrs. Gracykutty Baby (Late), Mr. John M T, Mr. Varghese T.M, Mr. Philip M.T, Mrs. Susamma Joseph, Mrs. Aniamma Joseph, Mr. Jose Thomas (Late) and Mr. Reji Thomas.  He completed his primary school studies from M S C L P School Valiyayanthi and his High School graduation was from the Government High School, Kadammanitta and the Bachelor Degrees in Philosophy and in Theology from University of Kerala and St. Thomas Apostolic Seminary, Kottayam respectively.

 

Ordained as a priest on December 22, 1988 and he was appointed as the assistant parish priest of three parishes such as Pazherror, Panayam and Ezhamkulam with Rev. Fr. John Kannamkara on January 2, 1989.  In April 1990 he became the Vicar of four Parishes such as Chirattakonam, Panavely, Villoor and Kokkad. Then he was appointed as the manager of St. Aloysius Estate, Kanchiyodu and Vicar for four parishes such as Kanchiyodu, Vettikuzhy, Ganapathikal and Sivalokam.  After that he went to Rome to pursue his studies in August 1995.

 

He got his Masters Degree and Doctorate in Dogmatic Theology from Pontifical Oriental Institute, Rome.  After his graduation he came back to India and worked as the vice-Rector of St Aloysius Minor Seminary, Trivandrum and as the vicar of three parishes such as Aruvattukonam, Vattaparambu and Manchamcodu for two years. Then again Major Archbishop Cyril Mar Baselios sent him to U.S.A. in January 2004, to work as a missionary for some different exposure. During that time he was the vicar of Malankara Catholic Community, Queens for one year and associate vicar of St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Findlay, Ohio in Toledo Diocese for eight years. Then he came back to his home Diocese of Pathanamthitta on August 7, 2013 and had been appointed as the Priest personnel of the Diocese and the personal Secretary of the Bishop Yohanoon Mar Chrysostom. Then in March 2014 he was appointed as the Rector of St. Mary’s Malankara Major Seminary, Trivandrum. After the three years term of rectorship in March 2017 His Excellency Most Rev. Jacob Mar Bernabas invited him to work with him as the Vicar General of the Diocese of Gurgaon and the mission Coordinator of Odisha Region. After two years of his service in Delhi and Odisha Most Rev. Samuel Mar Irenios appointed him as the Vicar General of the Diocese of Pathanamthitta on August 10, 2019.
